The article grounds necessity of consideration of reproductive labor as a mechanism of increase of human capital. Such an approach becomes especially urgent in conditions of continuing population crisis in our country. Results of analysis of economic and demographic situation in world’s countries are quoted; factors forming situation of reproductive passivity are considered. The essence of three-stage mechanism of transferring to objective and active type of reproductive situation in Russia is disclosed.
