Subject. Developing tourist infrastructure in new regions of the Russian Federation. Objectives. Evaluating the role of tourism in integrating new regions into the economic and legal framework of the Russian Federation, and looking for the most promising directions for tourism development in each of the new regions. Methods. Systems, comparative analyses, theoretical typology, logical modeling. Results. The possibilities for developing nature-recreational, industrial-excursion, cultural-historical, and health-improving tourism in the new regions of the Russian Federation have been identified. The dependence of the territory's sustainable development on the chosen tourism development model matching the resource base has been justified. Conclusions. Using the developed typology makes it possible to reduce the risks of inefficient resource use and increase the investment appeal of new regions of the country.
