Subject. Turning people’s savings into investments, the work of financial intermediaries. Objectives. Development of a methodology for calculating the market socialization index, which allows assessing the quality of the institutional environment in different regions. Diagnosing barriers that lower trust in financial intermediaries and identifying effective measures to improve financial literacy. Methods. A number of economic and mathematical methods were used to achieve the research goals. Results. Functional and institutional heterogeneity of the investment environment has been confirmed. High values of the household market socialization index are due to high values across a number of parameters (household disposable income, human capital level, infrastructure availability) with minimal intensity of unfair practices. Conclusions. At the regional level, the investment environment is marked by significant differences due to the varying resource potential of the areas. The tools developed make it possible to identify the need for targeted measures that improve transparency in the interaction between financial market professionals and the public.
