Subject. The development of digital systems in the financial sector.
Objectives. Assess the adequacy of the documents from the Bank for International Settlements and the International Monetary Fund for regulating cross-border operations with central bank digital currencies.
Methods. General scientific research methods were applied.
Results. Closing gaps in the methodology for accounting cross-border operations with central bank digital currencies requires, in particular, changing some technical parameters of digital platforms, clarifying the classification of payments, and making intergovernmental agreements on data exchange.
Conclusions. The research results can be used by statistical services for various tasks, as well as by IT specialists when designing the digital ruble platform.
