A study of sanctions as an interdisciplinary category based on content analysis

Subject. Sanction as a phenomenon that affects economic processes, legal relations, and international security.
Objectives. Differentiation of the legal and economic aspects of the concept of 'sanction'. Assessing the effectiveness of sanctions as tools of influence in the context of international relations.
Methods. General scientific research methods were applied.
Results. In legal science, the term 'sanction' is understood as a declaration of will (an approved decision); a measure applied to an offender; an element of a law article. The effectiveness of economic sanctions used in international relations is usually low because the costs for the countries initiating them often turn out to be unreasonably high.
Conclusions. Correctly classifying sanctions allows you to take their specifics into account and develop differentiated sets of measures to counter their negative impact.
