Ecological and economic assessment of water use efficiency in electronics and instrumentation companies as a factor of sustainable regional development: St. Petersburg case study
Subject. Structural transformation of the economy of industrial regions, modernization of water use systems. Objectives. Assessment of the prospects for implementing water-saving technologies in industrial enterprises of certain sectors. Methods. Systems, economic and statistical analyses were used. Results. The economic and environmental sense of switching to closed-loop water supply systems has been justified. For businesses, the use of fiscal support tools and favorable loans is planned; it’s also necessary to reduce administrative barriers. Conclusions. Reducing the human impact on the region's water bodies goes hand in hand with increasing the investment appeal of businesses. Using the best available technologies significantly cuts the specific consumption of water and energy resources.
