Subject. The problem of the effective use of funds at all levels of the budgetary system of the Russian Federation. Objectives. Assessment of the current state and prospects for the development of the contract system in the procurement sector. Methods. General scientific research methods were applied. Results. It has been established that in the Khabarovsk Krai, the principles of the contract system in the field of procurement are implemented in strict accordance with current legislation. Conclusions. The development of the contract system at the regional level of the Russian Federation is largely determined by a combination of external and internal macroeconomic factors.
