Subject. Problems of storage, processing, and ensuring the availability of large amounts of information. Objectives. Justification of the possibility of developing modern digital infrastructure in the territory of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Yugra. Methods. Tools of systemic, structural-functional, comparative, techno-economic, and economic-geographical analysis were applied. Results. The Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Yugra has significant potential for creating a modern high-performance data center on its territory. A combination of factors (availability of energy resources, developed transport infrastructure, support from the regional government) creates favorable conditions for attracting investment and implementing large projects in the field of data processing and storage. Conclusions. The development of the digital economy directly depends on the availability and efficient functioning of data centers. At present, the creation and development of data centers is the only way to build a modern information society.
