Subject. Demographic situation in the Siberian Federal District.
Objectives. Analysis of the main trends related to life expectancy and interregional differentiation of mortality by cause classes in the subjects of the Siberian Federal District for the period 2013–2023.
Methods. Descriptive statistical methods, as well as general scientific methods were used.
Results. During the period 2013–2019, the increase in overall life expectancy was largely due to a decrease in mortality from external causes, diseases of the respiratory system, and the circulatory system. Life expectancy has increased in all subjects of the Siberian Federal District. The coronavirus pandemic led to a decrease in life expectancy. In the future, a restorative increase in life expectancy was recorded.
Conclusions. Interregional differences in life expectancy and in mortality rates for specific classes of causes indicate the need to improve federal and regional approaches to implementing social and demographic policy. This should happen taking into account the current situation regarding morbidity and mortality in the subjects of the Siberian Federal District.
