Healthcare as a driver of regional development: Macroeconomic analysis and priorities of digital transformation

Subject. Population health as a strategic economic asset affecting productivity, entrepreneurial activity, and sustainable regional development.
Objectives. Analysis of the contribution of the healthcare industry to the development of the region's economy. Defining the prospects of digital transformation in the healthcare industry.
Methods. Econometric modeling tools have been applied.
Results. The growth of investment in healthcare contributes to an increase in health capital, stimulates business activity, improves overall labor productivity, and strengthens the resilience of the regional economy. Projects related to the digital transformation of the healthcare system contribute to the rationalization of budget expenditures.
Conclusions. Spending on the development of the healthcare system should be regarded as strategic investments in human capital, ensuring an increase in the gross regional product, an improvement in the quality of life, and an enhancement of the national economy's competitiveness.
