The impact of the transformation of Russia's regional development policy on the socioeconomic situation of regions

Subject. The problem of implementing competitive advantages of a territory.
Objectives. Analysis of the impact of differentiation of the subjects of the Russian Federation by the level of economic development on the formation of internal growth factors and the competitiveness of the region.
Methods. Methods of mathematical analysis were used.
Results. The increase in equalization grants for budgetary provision across the subjects of the Russian Federation has little impact on the overall level of interregional differentiation. In turn, interregional differentiation does not affect the development of internal growth factors or the competitiveness of regions. Overall, the development dynamics of the regions in the Central Federal District for the period 2012–2022 are positive.
Conclusions. In the Russian Federation, interregional differences in the standard and quality of living are decreasing, while economic growth and technological development are accelerating. Regions are capable of adapting to new market conditions and attracting additional resources. However, within the framework of socioeconomic policy, it is necessary to take into account the provisions of the concept of uneven spatial development.
