Subject. Development of the fundamentals of economic forecasting. Objectives. Justification for the need to include the concept of long-term regional development in the system of indicative planning tools. Methods. Systems analysis. Results. The most important feature of the long-term development concept is that it is a document that allows for the identification of goals whose achievement is probabilistic in nature. Conclusions. Expanding the planning horizon will make it possible to realize the economic potential of Russia's eastern regions.
