Subject. This article discusses the issues of development of small towns in Russia as tourist destinations. Objectives. Considering the Sverdlovsk Oblast as a case study, the article aims to identify the factors that influence the popularity of certain attractions among tourists. Methods. For the study, we used a statistical analysis. Results. Overall, the analysis of tourist flow in the Bogdanovich Urban District (Sverdlovsk Oblast) suggests that there are prospects for the development of the industry, provided that the corresponding infrastructure is modernized, and information about the region as a whole, as well as about individual attractions, is more actively disseminated. Conclusions. When assessing tourist flow in small industrial towns, attention should be paid to interest in attractions, focusing on improving service quality. This can help to create a diversified tourism product and develop an effective strategy for its promotion.
