Subject. Ensuring the stable development of Russia's border regions in the context of geopolitical threats.
Objectives. Analysis of the political and economic significance of the regions of Russia bordering Ukraine, taking into account the experience related to responding to crises in recent years.
Methods. The tools of economic and statistical analysis were applied.
Results. The analysis of the gross regional product structure of the Russian regions bordering Ukraine allows us to conclude about their agro-industrial specialization, which forms the basis of the stability of their socioeconomic systems. Unfavorable trends have been identified in the mining sector, which pose a significant threat to the development of the Belgorod and Kursk Oblasts.
Conclusions. In the regions of Russia bordering Ukraine, it is necessary to develop high-tech sectors of agriculture, as favorable natural and climatic conditions and industrial potential allow for the development of agricultural production in the context of increased global demand for food.
