Subject. This article discusses the importance of engineering in creating innovations and the interrelation between engineering and the construction industry. Objectives. The article aims to analyze the prospects for Russian engineering companies to enter the global market and assess their potential to ensure economic growth in the country. Methods. For the study, I used the general scientific research methods. Results. The article finds that Russian engineering companies do not properly realize their potential, and for this reason, they cannot become drivers of growth for the construction industry and the economy as a whole. Conclusions. It is necessary to develop a comprehensive strategy for the development of the construction industry in Russia.
