Subject. This article discusses the issues of development of international economic cooperation in the context of global uncertainty. Objectives. The article aims to analyze the limitations of the classical approaches to risk management, and search for new tools that take into account specific factors of the external environment. Methods. For the study, I used a comparative analysis. Conclusions. When managing risks, macroeconomic factors should be taken into account. Considering the specifics of the legal system and compliance with national legislation are essential conditions for the successful operation of an international strategic alliance. Classical approaches to risk management should be supplemented by the application of various methods of political situation analysis. Competent risk management help improve cooperation between participants in the international strategic alliance and enhance its competitiveness in global markets.
