Subject. This article discusses the issues of development of international trade and the formation of logistics chains.
Objectives. The article aims to analyze the functions of dry ports in the logistics system and the problems of developing the corresponding infrastructure.
Methods. For the study, we used the general scientific research methods.
Results. Based on the analysis of dry port types, including inland terminals, intermodal and transit ports, the article describes the key advantages of such facilities. Considering the case of the implementation of the Dry Port – Yekaterinburg Project, the article assesses the effectiveness of the dry port's operation.
Conclusions. Dry ports ensure efficient transportation of goods within the country, contribute to optimizing logistics processes, reduce the load on seaports, lower transportation costs and delivery times of goods, which improves the country's competitiveness in the international arena.
