Subject. This article discusses the issues of development of transport communications, foreign economic activity, and the border region’s economic particularities.
Objectives. The article aims to analyze the problems of organizing international road transportation in the Altai Krai and assess measures supporting the industry at the federal and regional levels.
Methods. For the study, I used the general scientific research methods.
Results. The article identifies the main factors hindering the development of international road transport and the transport industry as a whole, and it finds that there is a risk of strengthening the position of foreign road carriers in the Russian market.
Conclusions. To ensure road transport parity, the international cooperation intensification should become a priority area for the development of the Altai Krai, which implies cooperation with federal authorities, local enterprises, and credit and financial institutions.
