Subject. This article discusses the issues related to the formation of the knowledge-based economy and the problems of commercializing the results of scientific research. Objectives. The article aims to justify the relevance of new forms of collaboration between creative clusters and universities in the context of regional economic development. Methods. For the study, we used a systems analysis. Results. The article defines the main areas of cooperation between creative clusters and universities and emphasizes that the development of a creative cluster helps bridge the gap between theory and practice, the content of educational programmes, and the needs of the economy for specialists. Conclusions. The collaboration between creative clusters and universities is becoming a priority area for regional development. Important structural changes in the economic, technological, and social and cultural spheres help expand the range of goods and services offered.
