Russian exports in the cross-border trade of the Greater Altai: Asian vector

Subject. This article examines the changes in the cross-border exports to the countries of the Greater Altai macro-region.
Objectives. The article aims to assess the role of the countries of the Greater Altai macro-region in the development of economic relations between Russia and Asian countries.
Methods. For the study, we used a statistical analysis.
Results. The article finds that the Greater Altai macro-region has a significant share in Russian exports. In some food markets in each of the countries of the Greater Altai, Russia takes a dominant position.
Conclusions. Closer ties of some subjects of the Russian Federation with the countries of the Greater Altai are due to territorial proximity, long-term cooperation, and mutual interests in foreign trade. It is necessary to develop new areas of export activity, and high-tech engineering products and environmentally friendly crop products are among the possible options.
