Subject. This article discusses the problem of creating jobs and realizing the creative potential of young professionals in the northern regions of Russia.
Objectives. The article aims to rank the northern regions of Russia by level of development of the creative economy.
Methods. For the study, we used a cluster analysis.
Results. The article finds that the creative sectors of the economy are characterized by positive changes, and prerequisites have been created for increasing the percentage of relevant goods and services in the gross domestic product of Russia. Nevertheless, in the northern regions, government support for certain industries is required.
Conclusions. Strategic cooperation between public authorities and private entrepreneurship plays an important role in the process of forming a creative economy.
