Subject. This article discusses the principles of functioning of the wholesale and retail electricity markets in Russia. Objectives. The article aims to study the basic principles of pricing, improvement of the applied methods of electricity pricing in the wholesale and retail markets. Methods. For the study, we used the methods of comparative and systems analyses. Results. The article finds that price positions are closely related to the volume of demand, as well as to the effective use of the installed capacity of generating companies. Conclusions. The results of the study can be used in the practical activities of power supply companies.
