Subject. This article discusses the issues of interaction between Russia and China in the context of sanctions imposed by Western countries. Objectives. The article aims to assess the contribution of Russian regions to the development of joint economic projects with China. Methods. For the study, we used a statistical analysis. Results. The article presents the results of the analysis of statistical data, which show that among the regions of Russia, Moscow is the leader in terms of trade with China both in terms of exports and imports. Conclusions. In the context of a changing foreign policy situation, there will be an upsurge in interest of Russian regions in cooperation with China.
