Subject. This article discusses the issues of science, technology and innovation development of old industrial areas.
Objectives. The article aims to find ways to ensure Russia's technological sovereignty.
Methods. For the study, I used the methods of systems, logical, structural, and comparative analyses.
Results. Based on the analysis of the scientific-and-technical, and innovative capacities of the most developed old industrial regions of the Urals, the article formulates proposals for stimulating the innovative transformation of the economy of the old-industry regions.
Conclusions. The industrial, scientific and technological potential of the most prospective old-industry regions can be a basis to form intensive growth poles of the domestic economy, in conditions of constraints, especially.
