Subject. This article discusses the issues of competition in the international energy market.
Objectives. The article aims to analyze the specific features of the development of China's energy industry.
Methods. For the study, we used the methods of logical and comparative analyses.
Results. Based on an analysis of the business models used by China's energy companies, the article describes the major sources of profit that contribute to the sustainable growth of the country's gross domestic product in the context of increasing energy imports.
Conclusions. It is necessary to carry out economic reforms aimed at reducing China's dependence on hydrocarbon-exporting countries. The development of alternative energy sources will contribute to improving the competitive ability of the country's energy industry in the global energy market.
