Subject. This article examines the impact of energy supply systems on the spatial development of the region.
Objectives. The article aims to explore the challenges to the development of the electric power sector infrastructure at the regional level.
Methods. For the study, I used the methods of analysis, synthesis, generalization, and grouping.
Results. Based on the generalized parameters characterizing the development of decentralized energy supply of areas, and the analysis of the practice of energy supply of isolated and remote areas, the article proposes a model for planning the development of areas of decentralized energy supply.
Conclusions. For the development of the economic space of the region, it will be of particular importance to reduce the sparseness of space, overcome its compression, and intensify the infrastructural connectivity of the areas.
