Subject. This article deals with the issues of production and consumption waste management, taking into account the principles of sustainable development. Objectives. The article aims to assess the main trends in the field of production and consumption waste management in the mining and manufacturing industries of the Sverdlovsk Oblast and propose up-to-date areas for the development of this sphere, based on the principles of sustainability. Methods. For the study, I used the methods of statistical and comparative analyses. Results. The article identifies the most promising and relevant for the Sverdlovsk Oblast areas for the development of production and consumption waste management, taking into account the principles of sustainable development. Conclusions. It is necessary to purposefully develop a regional segment of high-tech, science-intensive small business, focused on the processing of specific production and consumption waste.
