Subject. This article discusses the development of the Arctic regions of Russia.
Objectives. The article aims to analyze the specifics of the development of rural areas of the subjects that are fully part of the land territories of the Russian Federation Arctic zone, and determine the public policy for the development of rural areas.
Methods. For the study, we used the methods of comparative analysis, statistical grouping, and expert assessment.
Results. The article identifies the key problems of the development of rural areas of the Russian Federation Arctic zone and describes the necessary measures to solve them.
Conclusions. Structural problems of rural areas of the Arctic zone significantly affect the quality and standard of living of the population. This leads to threats to national security in the Arctic. It is necessary to develop effective measures of State policy, taking into account regional specifics.
