Subject. This article examines the factors and conditions affecting the processes of digital development of the economy of the regions of Russia. Objectives. The article aims to develop a system of analytical indicators and methods for determining the regional digital development index based on the current state of the digital potential of the region. Methods. For the study, I used a comparative analysis, the method of expert assessment, and general scientific methods. Results. The article presents the author-developed definitions of the terms Regional Digital Development Index and Regional Digital Potential, as well as an algorithm for assessing the regional digital development index. Relevance. The proposed method for determining the regional digital development index helps rank the subjects of the Russian Federation and determine the reserves for improving the efficiency of using the digital potential.
