Subject. This article deals with the issues related to the optimization of the pension system.
Objectives. The article aims to assess the standard of pension provision of the population of the Perm Krai and justify the areas to improve the Krai's socio-economic development.
Methods. For the study, I used the methods of analysis, synthesis, and generalization.
Results. The article assesses the standard of pension provision and justifies the need to increase it to improve the socio-economic living conditions of the population of the Perm Krai. As the main problem, the article identifies the loss of purchasing power of pension payments in conditions of inflation.
Conclusions. The identified problems of pension provision of the population of the Perm Krai as a whole correlate with the all-Russian practice, and they are a manifestation of an unreasonable strategy for the pension system's development and the specifics of the economy under conditions of inflation.
