Subject This article analyzes the state of the pharmaceutical market of the Russian Federation and the trends in its development. Objectives The article aims to develop recommendations to improve the objectivity of assessing the competitive ability of pharma companies and develop entrepreneurship in the industry of drugs and medicines. Methods For the study, we used the methods of analysis and synthesis, and logical and information approaches. Results The article presents an algorithm to assess the competitive ability of the drug company. Conclusions The modern pharmaceuticals market is characterized by fast and stable growth rates of production and sales due to the peculiarities of medicines that meet the specific needs of consumers. The demand for medicines is increasing regardless of economic, political and other factors. The pharmaceutical industry is one of the major ones in terms of capital and research intensity, and social significance for the Russian economy.
