High-level processing of dairy products in Russia's regions: A method of assessing the export potential of the region and the promotion of dairy products to Asian markets

Subject This article discusses the main trends, problems and prospects for the development of dairy exports of the Altai Krai.
Objectives The article aims to explore the export potential and assess the opportunities of the dairy industry of the Altai Krai in terms of the development of foreign markets.
Methods For the study, we used the methods of logical, expert, statistical, qualitative and quantitative analyses, and the content analysis, as well.
Results The article analyzes the largest dairy markets, assesses potential markets and, based on their ranking, it identifies the most promising foreign ones. It outlines the necessary conditions to support dairy exports.
Conclusions The dairy industry of the Altai Krai is characterized by high export opportunities allowing for the exports increase. The traditional CIS markets (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan) and promising markets of China, Mongolia, Japan and Korea are the potential foreign markets for dairy products of the Altai Krai.
