Subject This article considers the issues related to structural transformations in the agrarian sector and trends of agrarian development in the regions of Russia. Objectives The article aims to analyze structural changes in Russia's agriculture, assess the influence of the State on their dynamics, reveal tendencies of polarization of the country's regions in agrarian development, and propose mechanisms of State incentives for the regions' even economic progress. Methods For the study, we used abstract-logical, statistical, analytical methods, and the literature review approach. Results The article proposes mechanisms to reduce the inequality in agrarian development of the regions through development of special targeted measures on stimulation of structural and technological modernization of the agro-industrial complex. Conclusions The article notes the noticeable differentiation of State support across various regions. While the technological efficiency of agro-industrial production keeps on increasing, its vulnerability to various kinds of risk increases as well. This makes it urgent to reformat and improve the activity of State services operating in the sphere of agribusiness.
