Subject This article deals with the issues related to the State economic policy towards the Russian Far East.
Objectives The article aims to analyze the practices of applying public economic policy instruments to the Russian Far East and identify problems arising while implementing them.
Methods For the study, I used the historical, dialectical, abstract-logical, computational and constructive methods, and the comparative approach.
Results The article presents the results of the analysis of economic policy in relation to State-run programs, special (free) economic zones (SEZ), regional development zones, priority social and economic development areas, and the Free Port of Vladivostok (FPV).
Conclusions State-run programs are complicated to implement due to some circumstances among which there are the uncertainty of targets set, lack of an effective mechanism of reallocation of limited financial resources, and the unclear role of the Russian Far East in the process of integration of the Russian Federation with the Asia-Pacific Region countries.
