Subject This article builds scenarios of industrial development of the Russian Federation in the near terms on the basis of regression models. Objectives The article aims to consider the dynamics of industrial development in Russia and, based on the calculation of industrial production index, predict the development of industry in the coming years. Methods The real values of industrial production index by subject and Federal district of the Russian Federation helped forecast the industrial development in Russia on the basis of building a linear regression model. Results The article offers a methodological approach to estimate the development of an industrial branch. It can also be applied to other various industries. As well, the article develops and presents certain measures to reduce the impact of negative factors on the industry. Conclusions The proposed scenario of forecasting can contribute to the industrial production index increase by subject of the Russian Federation and timely take into account the possible negative impact of factors on the industrial development of Russia.
