Importance This article discusses the issues related to the rational territory management and the implementation of ecosystem services.
Objectives The article explores the problems of accounting the value of ecosystem services in the economy of the coal-mining region and seeks to identify alternative use of these services.
Methods For the study, we used the methods of logical and statistical analyses.
Results The article advances an idea that favorable conditions for the formation of a tourist and recreational cluster in the Kemerovo oblast can be one of the alternatives for obtaining economic benefits from the use of ecosystem services.
Conclusions A thorough analysis of the region's biodiversity can be a basis for calculating the overall economic assessment of the value of ecosystem services in the context of regional strategic planning.

Keywords: ecosystem services, economic value, optional methods, territory development
