Importance This article focuses on the application of foresight research in land resources management. Objectives The article aims to define the role and significance of foresight of land resources in the system of strategic planning of development of the region. Results The article shows the main differences of foresight studies from forecasting, defines the role of foresight in the system of strategic regional planning, highlights the stages and sub-stages of foresight study for the purposes of land resources management, and it briefly analyzes their content. Conclusions The article concludes that the foresight of land resources of the region should precede the stages of strategic planning of regional development and prepare the information basis for the creation of strategic documents.
