Subject The article deals with the issues of managing and regulation of regional processes to provide innovation activities with all types of resources within the regional and national economy.
Objectives The article aims to analyze the current state of resources for innovation in the regions, identify obstacles to the implementation of these activities, recommend improvements to innovative resourcing.
Methods For the study, we used economic and mathematical methods, as well as the methods of statistical, comparative, and graphical analyses using official State statistics data.
Results We have considered the changes in and structure of resources for innovation in the regions of the Central Federal District. The Federal budget is found to be the main source of financial support for innovation.
Conclusions and Relevance The paper concludes that the processes of innovation resource require State regulation and control, since public sources are the main financing support to innovative expenditures. Regional authorities need to involve business entities in financing innovative projects. Strategic planning, to be implemented at all levels of the State and municipal government, should be an important tool for resource management of innovation.
