Subject The article deals with the problems of formation and status of human resource capacity in the agriculture sector in the current economic conditions. Objectives The paper aims to study the conditions and particularities that affect the human resource capacity of agriculture and assessment of its current status in the Russian Federation. Methods For the study, I used the methods of comparison and analogy, a scientific method of abstraction (induction, deduction), systems approach, and statistical and economic methods. Results The article compares the quality characteristics of agricultural workers with the nationwide ones and shows the conditions of human potential formation in the agricultural sector of the economy. The paper offers the priority activities for the formation of high-quality, competitive staffing of the agrarian sector in the context of successive stages of training. Conclusions The proposed activities can be used to develop certain programs aimed at improving the staff composition of the agrarian sector of the Russian economy.
