Subject The article studies the issues of health status in Russia and factors influencing it, taking into account regional particularities.
Objectives The article aims to study the interdependence of standardized mortality rates for men and women, i.e. health status indicators, and socio-economic factors influencing health.
Methods To estimate the mortality and health influence factors interconnection, I used methods of comparative, correlation, and regression analyses.
Results Medical and demographic challenges in the Siberian regions of Russia vary considerably. I offer to identify the Siberian regions as problem-free regions, regions of concern, risk-associated regions, and outsider regions. I determine the statistically significant risk factors for health in the latter two regions.
Conclusions and Relevance Regional population and demographic programs frequently aim at the implementation of measures at the federal level; they do not always take into account the risk factors for the health of the population in a particular area. The identified factors should become a priority in the development and implementation of population programs in the Siberian regions. The results of this research can be used to study the disciplines of Demography, Social Policy in the Region, and Socio-Economic Statistics.
