Subject The article discusses the issues of sustainable development of enterprises under the exacerbation of economic crisis. Objectives The article aims to identify the problems of and prospects for sustainable development of enterprises in the conditions of economic crisis and formulate appropriate recommendations. Methods As a methodological basis, I used the methods of scientific abstraction, analysis and synthesis, modeling, a systems approach, and expert assessments. Results I analyzed the impact of the economic crisis on businesses and workers, and I justify the importance of responsible and sustainable practices at the enterprise level. The paper presents certain recommendations on the implementation of a responsible approach to doing business in times of crisis for sustainable development of business structures. Using statistical information, I prove that the restructuring, involving the reduction of employees, leads to significant negative effects. Conclusions Responsible business in the conditions of crisis is especially necessary since it differentiates the business from competitors who care about their own interests only, and it provides responsible business structures with high loyalty staff, contractors, and consumers. The implementation of the proposed recommendations shall reduce or resolve the conflict of both short-term and long-term goals of the company, and its economic, social and environmental interests.
