Importance The article discusses the innovative challenges and practical solutions in the management of foreign trade activities from the position of the customs tariff and non-tariff policies of the State. Objectives The paper aims to find some missed links and inconsistencies, problems of infrastructure and strategic reserves in the regulation of foreign trade activities in the regions. As well, using the Krasnodar Krai as a case study, the paper studies the innovative mechanisms for regulating foreign economic activity to determine joint innovation tasks of customs authorities, regional authorities and regional businesses at the macro-, meso-, and micro-levels. Methods For the study, we used a method of expert evaluations. Results We have developed and now propose certain models to improve the regulation and interaction of the State and regional actors at the present stage of development of foreign economic activity. We present our suggestions to introduce specific structural units and additional information-analytical functions of Federal Customs Service of Russia in each particular region to obtain feedback and effective regulation of foreign trade activities at the regional level. Conclusions and Relevance The application of our complex measures proposed will contribute to the qualitative change of foreign trade activities in the region and municipalities, as well as, will increase the number of participants in foreign economic activity, the volume of foreign trade contracts, investment in each specific region, filling the Federal budget from foreign economic activities of specific subjects. The results of the study will be useful in shaping the new, including the joint ones, federal and regional programs.
