Importance The article discusses the problems of agriculture, agrarian reforms and institutional changes in Uzbekistan, searching new organizational forms and management methods to ensure the effective use of land, water, material and financial resources and prospects of the agrarian sector's development. Objectives The article aims to determine the scientific and theoretical criteria of economic efficiency forms for agriculture and substantiate the effectiveness by forms of management and their further development, and reasons for farmers' preferences. It also aims to show the main problems of the increase of efficiency and ways of their solution. Methods For the study, I used comparative and correlative-regression analyses. Results In the article, I show certain features of the reform of the agrarian sector of Uzbekistan, problems and factors reducing the effectiveness of farm production. I present certain proposal to improve the efficiency of farms of Uzbekistan. Conclusions I conclude that the neoinstitutional theory principles can be effective to maintain and manage the agriculture by forms of management. A comprehensive approach is necessary to reduce transaction costs, including measures to improve the land quality and motivation of farmers.
