Importance The paper analyzes the condition of the grain products subcomplex in the Saratov oblast in terms of its regions, taking into account the development perspectives until 2030. Objectives The paper aims to show the current condition of the grain products subcomplex of the oblast; to assess its prospects considering the key indicators, the achievement of which should contribute to the oblast's food security. Methods We used methods of mathematical and comparative analyses, multi-criteria optimization, in particular, the ideal point method. Results The analysis shows that the oblast fully covers its grain products requirements, and even can supply grain surplus to other regions. The paper contains a development forecast of the grain products subcomplex until 2030, the required values of the areas of crops and gross grain harvest, as well as the processing capacities of the selected zones. Conclusions and Relevance Currently, the Saratov oblast has sufficient acres of crop to provide the flour enterprises with the necessary volume of grain. The oblast has sufficient capacities for commercial milling. Our recommendations will help ensure the food security of the oblast in bread and pasta.
