Importance The article deals with the dynamics of age-specific fertility rates in Primorsky Krai in 1990?2013.
Objectives The paper aims to identify the factors of fertility decline and propose measures of regional demographic policy to stimulate the birth rate and overcome the 'short-family' situation in Primorsky Krai.
Methods For the study, we used systemically-analytical research methods.
Results We identified certain factors of fertility decline and propose certain measures of regional demographic policy to stimulate the birth rate in Primorsky Krai.
Conclusions and Relevance We concluded that the predominant use of economic mechanisms to stimulate the birth rate, targeted at older age groups, does not help achieve the desired indicators of population reproduction. We recommend an application of the entire set of measures, including the ideological ones, for State regulation of demographic processes, aimed at promoting family values and social norms of medium-sized family. The results of the research may be useful for improving the regional demographic policy.
