Importance The article investigates the methodological and practical issues of evaluating the investment potential of regions.
Objectives The aim of the study is to assess the investment potential of regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the basis of compilation and analysis of the existing theoretical and methodological framework for assessing a regional investment potential.
Methods The study used a method of analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, comparative analysis, benchmarking.
Results During the study, I formed a method of evaluating the investment potential of regions of Uzbekistan, dividing the country into three groups with high, medium and low levels of investment potential, and identified the factors determining the investment potential of the territories.
Conclusions There is a high level of inter-regional differentiation of investment in the Republic of Uzbekistan. Regions with poor resource potential have low investment activities. So to implement major investment projects for the development of basic industries: fuel and energy, machinery, chemical industry, etc., it is essential to generate a good investment image, create special economic zones, develop the stock market, as well as attract and stimulate foreign specialists.
