Objectives The paper aims to develop a mechanism to assess the current state of information and communication infrastructure of the northern border regions of the Russian Federation.
Methods In the work, I used a comparative analysis.
Results I developed a mechanism of assessment and defined an index of information and communication infrastructure in the extreme northern border regions.
Conclusions Based on the analysis of certain indicators, I conclude that the information and communication infrastructure of the northern border regions is well developed, in general. However, such border regions as the Republic of Tyva, Amur oblast, the Republic of Buryatia and Chita oblast still need State support to improve the situation.
