Importance The article deals with the issues of classification of single-industry towns.
Objectives The paper aims to develop criteria to define and classify single-industry towns.
Methods For the problem consideration, we used systems and comparative analyses.
Results We present our own classification of single-industry towns, which could serve as a basis for establishing a methodology for assessing the competitiveness of single-industry towns. This criteria classification is based on the assessment of macro-economic indicators, at the regional level, and the evaluation of micro-economic indicators, at the manufacture level.
Relevance We propose to use the criteria classification of single-industry towns in practice and in training professionals in the fields of economy, industry, public and municipal finances.
