Subject The article deals with the factors of poverty in terms of income of the working population.
Objectives The purpose of the study is to identify factors of poverty in terms of income on the basis of an econometric model, which allows, by values of the explanatory variables characterizing the respondent, to assess the probability of hitting the one in the low-income group. The tasks are as follows: development of an adequate econometric model of multiple structured choice for defining an income poverty risk; the formation of groups of risk factors of poverty in terms of income of the working population in the region on the basis of the developed model.
Methods On the basis of econometric methods and survey data, we analyzed poverty factors by income in the Republic of Bashkortostan.
Results We identified certain risk factors of poverty in terms of income of the working population in the region.
Conclusions We conclude that the factors characterizing the respondent's state of health, disability, the way of life, as well as the intensity and duration of work, are irrelevant to the definition of income poverty.
