Importance The article deals with theoretical approaches to the study of the potential for interregional cooperation to develop the subjects of the Russian Federation in modern conditions. Objectives The paper's purpose is to identify the potential for interregional cooperation and how it can be used for the efficient development of the economy of the region. Methods The research methodology is based on fundamental provisions of the regional economy, the applied aspects of the theory and methodology of systems analysis, the theory of economic systems management, research in the field of investment attractiveness and territorial innovation development of economy. Results The article offers a technique that allows for the identification of possibilities for realization of economic relations in interregional cooperation. It defines a collection of arrangements to enhance the effectiveness of the development of the economy of the region in the context of optimal directions for reproduction process phases. Relevance The significance of the research consists in the realization of economic relations in the process of interregional cooperation which will enhance the resource base and will contribute to the achievement of the maximum limiting productivity factors and utility of goods produced using these factors.
